2 Long Days... plus one tomorrow
Yesterday (Monday) was the pictorial for the graduation pictures,
informal pictures, creative pictures, and the optional "barkada pics". Summary: I arrived at 8:00am, and my photos were taken at around 3:30pm. Screw that. And
now we have to pay P1,950 for the pictures. The first package includes
52 copies of the pictures, but if I saw it right, 50 of these are 2" x
3" pics only. The package also includes a large wooden frame. (In the
second package, there are 77 copies of the pictures, and one would have
to shell out P2,450) What the hell?! I could take those shots with my digicam, and it would have cost me much less. Who the hell needs 52 copies?! **** I have somehow conquered EDSA. But how about Manila itself? The answer: NO. I
went to Mayric's last night, and it was also my first time to drive
there. Thanks to my navigator, we were able to reach Espaņa. But we
weren't able to locate Mayric's even though we were driving slowly. We reached "Welcome Rotonda". It was a sure sign that we were already far from our destination. BUT...
here's a twist (?). As we were going through Espaņa slowly, some
traffic enforcers signaled for us to stop. I was wondering why. Then
the female traffic official approached me. "Boss, pula na e dumiretso pa kayo. Pa'no ba yan."What...
the... HELL!!!! When the traffic light was above me, it was still
yellow. Why the hell am I supposed to stop directly below a traffic
light?! Then another traffic official (a male one) approached
me. I tried to negotiate with him, but he seemed very determined to
confiscate my license. MY PRECIOUS LICENSE. I do not want to be
separated from my beloved license (again), so I really tried hard to
negotiate with him. To make it short, I got off with my license intact, at a price of P ***. I
do not want to tolerate that kind of behavior from corrupt traffic
officials, but I also do not want my license taken away (then claim it
later at the Manila City Hall for P500 minimum). **** @ Mayric's: Chillitees (hmmm, I was bored), Silent Sanctuary, Sugarfree, and Itchyworms. The Itchyworms were mocking Sugarfree (especially Ebe) during their set. Hahaha! **** On
our way home, we got lost. I was planning to go to EDSA (which will
cover more kilometers than going through Divisoria back to Roxas
Blvd.), but what I didn't realize early was that I was following the
LRT 2. Crap...!!! Fortunately I have a map. When we were following the LRT 2, I was sensing something eerie. I do not ever want to drive there again (unless needed).
I got home at 4:00am.
****
I had an on-call duty in the delivery room earlier from 2:00pm to 10:00pm. The slot was given to me by a classmate. Thanks!
Then tomorrow, I will be having another duty in the delivery room from 6:00am to 2:00pm.
Duty earlier until 10:00pm then tomorrow again at 6:00am... Kumusta ka naman yun?! (wtf?!)
I should be sleeping by now.

I, along with Dustin, planned to watch Sofia's gig. Little did I know that Dustin brought with him a "multimedia" gadget. I thought he brought a videocam, but I found out that what he had with him was a *tantananan!* digital SLR camera. A Canon EOS 350D. I had only a few minutes to learn how to operate that thing, which happened to be before the actual show started. I took some shots using that dSLR camera, and... WOW!!! I WANT ONE!!! The shots were really great. Basic shooting is also easy (yeah, thanks to autofocus and other auto-everything. Forgive me, I only learned how to use it minutes before the performance). Shooting through the viewfinder is something I missed for a long time (since my digital camera's viewfinder is inaccurate, I don't use it). Shooting with the viewfinder of the dSLR is easier than with the LCD of most compact digital cameras. Composing the shot is not a problem. The shutter response time is very good, something significant which is lacking in most compact digital cameras. The images were very impressive, even if not set on the "Superfine" or "Fine" setting. Dustin took more shots than I did (well, he was the one who borrowed the camera), therefore he had more better shots than mine (I only have a Canon PowerShot A510... The S3 could have equalized things hahaha). But I was able to shoot a picture worth being used as an album cover (I really loved that shot). I hope I could get a copy of the pictures from Dustin soon, then I would be posting them here. ^_^

I still lack a lot of Operating Room (OR) and Delivery Room (DR)
cases. These cases are requirements of the PRC for one to be able to
take the local Board exams. I still lack 3 actual deliveries, 2
assists, and 1 cord dressing. I thought I lack 2 minor OR cases, but I
think I have completed my OR cases (if I'm not mistaken).
I requested for on-call duties to be able to complete my OR and DR cases. And what do I get?
- 2 OR on-call duties (March 19, 24)
- 1 DR on-call duty (March 27)
Our clinical graduation is on March 16, and the other graduation on
April 19. The R.A. Gapuz Review review (?) starts on April 1 or 2
(depending on the schedule). The deadline for the submission of the
PRC requirements is May 11 (for first-time applicants).
One on-call duty in the DR of De La Salle University Medical Center is
not enough to complete my cases. It's not Fabella hospital where one
can complete DR cases in one day. There are even days when there are
no clients in the DR.
Why is it so unfair? Because I have seen a lot of other students get
assigned in the DR for several days. Some of them even have 3
consecutive days of duty in the DR during the final term, then they
again get DR duties this February and March.
If ever I won't be able to complete the PRC requirements before the
deadline (which is not far from becoming a reality), then it will mean
I won't be able to take the Board exams this June.

Give me 1,827,992 reasons not to buy a Canon PowerShot S3IS. I need
that exact number of reasons for me to take those into consideration.
Hahaha ^_^
I'm all set to buy a Canon PowerShot S3. Well, not yet actually, since I still lack P3,000. Someone, give me P3,000! ^_^
Joke only. ^_^
****
Although I patronize Canon cameras, I do
rate some of their cameras "FAILED" based on my standards, especially
those "stylish" compact cameras known as IXUS. I just can't stand
them. They offer very little flexibility for people who want to
maximize a camera's potential. And I hate them because they look like
more of a fashion accessory than what it really is - a camera.
****
And another thing. A lot of people base
the quality of the images produced by a camera by its megapixel sensor
/ megapixel count. I have known of some people who prefer a
high-megapixel camera (say, 6 megapixels), only to find out that the
size of the images they take are 1024x768 (they say they want to take
more pictures). That image size is not even 1 megapixel. What's the
use of a high-megapixel camera if one is not using the large sizes for
images?

The final final exams are over.
The first exam was a subtotal surprise. The announcement was the exam
will be about "Professional Adjustment", and it turned out that 50% of
the exam is about the Fundamentals of Nursing, around 25% about
Professional Adjustment / Nursing Laws, and the remaining 25% about
Nursing Leadership and Management. Therefore, the things I have
studied at 6:00am in the morning proved useful only for about 25% of
the exam.
Then the last of the 8 exams - the Medical-Surgical (MS) Nursing exam.
I expected it to be the most difficult, since there are a lot of topics
involved (although I still find Obstetric Nursing and Pediatric Nursing
more difficult than Medical-Surgical Nursing). I wasn't able to study
last night, so I read my notes during the long lunch break. I
eventually got tired of reviewing, so I resorted to singing Backstreet
Boys songs to a classmate who was reviewing for the exam. *hahaha* I
give the MS exam a difficulty rating of 7 out of 10 (I initially
thought that the exam will be around 8 to 9 out of 10 when it comes to
difficulty).
I had a very short drama moment (?) after shading my final answer in
the exam. I reflected upon everything that has happened to me for the
past 4 years in the course. It was a very rough yet fruitful journey.
When I went out of the room, I was happy deep inside, because I have
already overcome most of the obstacles of college life as a nursing
student (of course there is still a lot to face after graduation, when
the "real life" starts.)
What the...?! Actually, I was happy because... "TAPOS NA ANG EXAMS!!! PWEDE NA AKONG MAG-LIWALIW MAMAYA!!!"

How do I answer my exams?
- I read the question carefully.
- Even though the instructions on the first page indicate not to write unnecessary marks on the questionnaire, I do write marks which I deem necessary.
- I shade my chosen answer on the answer sheet.
I just want to elaborate about those marks I make on the questionnaires. I just can't help but edit every error I see, be it spelling, grammar, or even margin and spacing errors. My two exams earlier had a serious amount of errors. Damn. Happens almost all the time. Anyway, I had the idea that someone else (probably someone from UST haha) made the first two exams we had, because there were very few errors (mostly typographical errors only). In my 4 years in this nursing course, it was like the first time my mind did not have a hard time deciphering what the questions were all about, since the questions were properly constructed. *sinister laugh*

No changes yet in Globe's pricing scheme
TXTPOWER's offer: Integrate the 15-25-50 pricing scheme with Globe's new pricing scheme.
What happened? Globe rejected the offer, and instead made a counter-offer: P100/6 days.
TXTPOWER rejected the counter-offer. TXTPOWER then made another offer: P100/10 days.
Will Globe accept it? I doubt it.

Goodbye 3M Super Black tint... (well ok lang, maa-aksidente ako sa ganun e). Welcome 3M Magic Tint (black chrome). (?)
****
All I can say is "What the hell?!"
when I took my exams earlier today. My first exam was about the final
period of Nursing Leadership and Management. I studied (for the first
time in a long time) last night regarding the only topics we had during
the final term: the different nursing organizations in the Philippines
and around the world. And how many questions were there regarding
these organizations? Less than 5. What the hell?!
Then the exam was bombarded (?) with questions regarding Professional
Adjustment and Nursing Jurisprudence. Fortunately some information
were retained during the lecture of Mr. Marcus Maramba (of UST *bows
down*) last January regarding that subject. But what surprised me was
the sheer number of questions about different Republic Acts,
Presidential Decrees, and Executive Orders. I just had no idea what to
answer, so I answered letter C for most of the questions.
The second exam: Elective. In my case, it was about the wards. I
studied about leadership and management, since I worked there as a
supervisor. But nothing from what I have studied came out. The
questions were about almost everything related to nursing -
medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, nursing ethics, nursing law,
professional adjustment, etc. The exam in general was easy, but...
DEYM (???), for the nth time, my efforts to study proved useless (for
that particular set of exams).
****
I received news last night that our
group in the community exposure held last January were given a line of
7 grade. I have seen this one coming, though. It will taint my RLE
(related learning experience) record dammit.
And then we were required to submit a SOAPIE the following day.
Dammit, I was in the middle of my study session, and that it was
already 11:00pm. What happened was I lost the momentum to study
because I had to do that f*cking requirement.
Damn!!!
Karma comes in interesting ways, remember that, you...!!!!

DLS-HSC's final blow to the 4th year nursing students
This week... is the finals week. The final finals week.
We will be having a total of 8 exams in a span of 4 days.
The exams cover the following:
- Psychiatric Nursing
- Maternal and Child Health Nursing
- Pediatric Nursing
- Community Health Nursing
- Professional Adjustment and Nursing Jurisprudence
- Medical-Surgical Nursing
- Nursing Leadership and Management
- Elective exam (in my case, an exam about being a supervisor will be given to me)
The exams started yesterday (Monday). I want to emphasize that last
Saturday and Sunday, we were required to attend the "Fundamentals of
Nursing" review / seminar, therefore precious hours of review for the
said exams were taken away.
I have already taken four (4) exams.
What were the things I did in preparation for the final final exams (the first "final" is used to describe "final exams")?
- Internet surfing
- sleep
- watched an episode of The Simpsons
- sleep
I did not study. I know I won't be able to know everything within a
few hours, so instead I chose to get enough sleep - and it produced
good results, since my analytical and judgment skills were sharper if I
had enough sleep.
